Our Story
In the fall of 2013, our story started when we signed up for the same photo editing class at Orange Coast College. What began with "so what was the homework?" turned into working together on school projects, assisting each other's family sessions and weddings, and eventually merging our two businesses into Dan & Tyler Photography. On May 31, 2018, we got married. Thanks to clients like you, we have been able to build our passion into a career for more than a decade.

Meet the Team
Tyler
Lead Photographer & Director
The heart of our team, Tyler is the photographer, director, and planner, the person every bride wants by her side on the wedding day. She studied photography at Orange Coast College and art education at Cal State Fullerton, and that teaching instinct shows in how she directs a room. Her attention to detail and steady drive ensure every client receives service that is thoughtful, elevated, and unmatched, without compromise.
Dan
Lead Photographer & Videographer
Photographer, videographer, and camera and lighting technician. Dan is the primary camera operator, focused on capturing the shot across every medium; photo, film, and video, while Tyler directs and organizes each session. He studied photography at Orange Coast College and graphic design at Cal State Fullerton, which is why the website, data, design, and nearly everything technical that keeps the studio running also falls to him.
Ben
Lead Videographer
Ben is a lead videographer and carries the most formal video training on our team, having earned a BFA in Cinematic Arts Production from Azusa Pacific University. He is also a licensed drone pilot under FAA Part 107, which opens perspectives most wedding coverage never reaches. Go with the flow and steady by nature, Ben has been with us since 2023 and is the person we trust with the most technical video work of the day.
Parker
Photographer & Videographer
Parker joined us in 2023 and has an eye for the angle no one else in the room is looking for. He shoots both photo and video, and he is steady, strong, and quick to adapt, which makes him the person we lean on when a day calls for coverage to shift on the fly. He is also Tyler's brother, so the family thread running through this studio runs through our team as well.
Amelia
Photographer
Amelia focuses on photography and joined us in 2025. She is people forward in the best sense, warm and hands on, quick to put a room at ease and ready to serve wherever she is needed. She has an easy, playful way with children and brings that same steady presence to every session she shoots.
Emma
Photographer & Videographer
Our team would not be complete without Emma, our second photographer and videographer. She has been with us since 2022 and serves as our steady second set of eyes on every photo and video booking, making sure each moment is captured from more than one perspective.
Rylee, Kayce, & Rhett
Rylee, Kayce, and Rhett are our own crew. If you are lucky, you might catch them making a guest appearance at your session. Raising our own family is part of why building a legacy for yours means so much to us.
Faith
Compass Bible Church Huntington
This is a big one for us. Everything we do revolves around our relationship with Jesus Christ who we believe is the son of God. We believe Jesus died for us so that we could live a new life free from sin and ultimately, spend eternity in heaven with Him.
Our faith in God stems from hearing the word of God and the love, mercy, and grace He pours out on us daily. This faith enables us to deny our selfish, prideful nature and instead live lives full of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control.
Our goal as Christians, is to run our business in a way that glorifies God more than ourselves. Therefore, we aim to love and serve our clients in ways that we ourselves would want to be loved and served.

Who owns Dan & Tyler Photography?
Dan & Tyler Photography is a husband and wife led studio based in Orange County, California, founded by Dan and Tyler in 2013. The team has grown to include photographers and videographers Parker, Emma, Ben, and Amelia.
Is Dan and Tyler Photography a faith based business?
Yes. Faith is central to how the studio operates. The team attends Compass Bible Church in Huntington Beach and works from the conviction that good work is worship and service, not just a transaction. They approach every wedding and every session with a here to serve posture, and they want the way they run the business, and the way they treat people, to reflect their relationship with Jesus Christ.
Are you available for my wedding or session date?
Availability is limited. We book a small number of weddings, elopements, and family sessions per year. Most dates are booked 8-12 months in advance. The best way to check availability and start a conversation is to reach out; we reply to every inquiry within 48 hours.
Is Dan and Tyler Photography formally trained?
Yes. Dan and Tyler both studied photography at Orange Coast College, with Dan going on to study graphic design and Tyler art education at Cal State Fullerton. Lead videographer Ben holds a BFA in Cinematic Arts Production from Azusa Pacific University and is a licensed drone pilot under FAA Part 107.
Do you provide posing direction during sessions?
Yes. We direct and guide you throughout the session, whether it is a wedding day, an engagement shoot, or a family portrait. Our approach is warm and unhurried. We tell you what works, show you how to hold each other, and make sure you feel confident in front of the camera. In a recent client experience survey, 88 percent of respondents rated their comfort during the shoot a 5 out of 5.
Do you photograph at Crystal Cove, Newport Beach, Laguna Beach, or Mission Viejo?
Yes. We are based in Orange County and regularly photograph throughout the area, including Crystal Cove, Newport Beach, Laguna Beach, Mission Viejo, and many more of our favorite local spots. If you already have a venue or location in mind, our location guide covers where we love to shoot across Orange County. We also travel for weddings outside the area on a case by case basis.
